Agoda: reaching travelers from Asia and the Pacific

Agoda is a travel booking site owned by Booking Holdings, the same parent company as Booking.com. It lists hotels, inns and vacation homes, and it’s best known with travelers from Asia and the Pacific. You pay commission on bookings, and Agoda says the rate depends on your location and sometimes on how guests pay.

Who lists on Agoda

Hotels, inns and B&Bs, plus vacation homes. A home with a single room for rent lists as a single-unit home.

What it costs

  • Commission on bookings. Agoda says it varies by location, and in some cases by payment model, so there’s no standard rate.
  • It’s either a percentage of the price guests see or a markup on the rate you load. Your rate is in the Partner Portal under Finance, then Contracted compensation.
  • You owe it after a completed stay, or when you charge a no-show or a non-refundable booking. Not when a guest cancels inside free cancellation, or when you waive the fee.

Your own website and guest contact

  • Guests can prepay through Agoda, or pay you at the property. Agoda takes the commission on pay-at-property bookings out of what it owes you for prepaid ones, so there’s no separate invoice.
  • New listings go through verification, which Agoda says usually takes up to 72 hours.

How it connects

You can list by hand, or import a listing you already have on Airbnb or Booking.com. Many booking systems connect to Agoda, and some say their Booking.com connection reaches Agoda too, so ask yours before you set up a second one.

Most booking software also works as a channel manager, so your rates and open dates stay in sync here, on your own website and on every other site you connect. How that works, with Comal Inn's setup.

What I’d do

For most small US properties, Agoda is an extra, not a main channel. Where it helps is reaching international guests who already book on it. If your booking software connects, find your commission in the Partner Portal and run the math before you turn it on.

Questions

Is Agoda part of Booking.com?

They share a parent company, Booking Holdings, but Agoda runs as its own site with its own partner portal.

How much commission does Agoda take?

It varies. Agoda sets it by location, and sometimes by payment model. Your rate is in the Partner Portal under Finance, then Contracted compensation.

Can Agoda guests pay at my property?

Yes, with Property Collect. Agoda takes the commission on those bookings out of your prepaid payouts.

Can I copy my Airbnb listing to Agoda?

Yes. Agoda can import a listing you already have on Airbnb or Booking.com, and you can edit it after.
