Booking software · PMS integrations

Will my booking software work with my website?

Almost always, yes. Nearly every PMS has a booking page your site can send guests to, and most offer a widget too. Under the hood, most of them do the same job. What changes is how smoothly booking blends into your site, whether it can run on your own domain, and which channels it reaches.

How it connects

Three ways a website connects to a PMS

  1. 01

A search bar or link to the booking page

Your site has its own date search or Book buttons. Tapping one opens your booking software’s booking page with the dates and guests filled in.

Fastest on a phone, works with almost any PMS, and it’s how Comal Inn does it.

  2. 02

A widget on your own pages

Your booking software gives you a small piece of code for a search box, calendar or Book button. Some, like Cloudbeds, can run the whole booking on your page.

Easy to add. Some widgets add weight to the page, so test speed after.

  3. 03

A custom build on the PMS’s API

A developer pulls availability and rates straight from your booking software and builds the booking flow into your site.

The most control, but the most cost, and not every PMS lets the API take bookings.

What actually differs

Many PMSs started out for one kind of property, like Guesty for vacation rentals, and now reach into inns, hotels and campgrounds too. The basics are the same. These are the things worth checking.

Where the booking page lives
Some can run on your own domain or a subdomain like book.yourdomain.com. Others stay on the software’s domain. Either way, your own pages carry your Google rankings.
Whether you can pass a search
Some publish exactly how to send dates and guests in a link. Others don’t, and you have to test it.
Which channels it connects to
Most cover Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com. After that it varies: Expedia, Google, Hipcamp, and smaller marketplaces like Whimstay or Savvy.
How open the API is
Some let you create your own keys. Some are read-only. Some are for partners only.

Before you rely on it

Questions to ask about any connection

“Integrates with” doesn’t always mean every step is automatic. These are the questions worth asking before you sign, whether it’s booking software, a booking site or an add-on tool.

  1. 01What passes each way?Ask for the exact list: rates, availability, bookings, guest names and contact info, card details and deposits. “It integrates” can mean only some of these.
  2. 02Is it two-way, or a calendar sync?A calendar sync only blocks booked dates. Rates, minimum stays and changes may still have to be made by hand on each side.
  3. 03Does it work with the tools you already use?Check your pricing tool, like PriceLabs, your smart locks, guest messaging, deposit and upsell tools, and accounting. Ask whether each one connects directly or needs a workaround.
  4. 04What’s still manual?Ask the vendor to walk through one booking from start to finish and point out every step a person still does, like changing an arrival time, extending a stay, charging a card or updating a door code.
  5. 05Where do guests pay, and who holds the card?If another tool charges deposits or balances, confirm the card details actually reach it, from your own site and from each booking site.
  6. 06Can I talk to someone with the same setup? One customer on the same booking software and the same add-on tools tells you more than a demo account.
  7. 07Test it before you go live.Make a real booking with a real card on your own site and on each booking site, then cancel it. Check that everything landed where it should.

If something doesn’t pass through, there’s often a workaround. Ask what other customers on the same setup do.

Questions

Will my booking software work with my website?

Almost always, yes. Nearly every PMS has a booking page your website can send guests to, and most offer a widget too. What differs is how smoothly it blends in and whether the booking page can sit on your own domain.

Do I have to use my PMS’s website builder?

No. Most booking software offers its own website builder, but you can use your own site and connect it to the same booking engine. That keeps you in control of your design, speed and SEO, and makes it easier to switch software later.

Does it hurt SEO if guests book on my PMS’s domain?

Not really. The pages that rank on Google and get recommended by AI tools are your own pages about your property and area. Just set up cross-domain tracking so your analytics can follow the guest to the booking page.

Are you a partner of these companies?

No. Firsthand Stays isn’t affiliated with any of them. Every page here is based on the company’s own public documentation, checked October 2026, plus Comal Inn’s own setup on eviivo.

What should I check before relying on a booking software integration?

Ask what passes each way, whether it’s a full two-way connection or just a calendar sync, whether it works with your pricing tool, smart locks and other tools, and which steps are still manual. Then make a real test booking before you go live.
