ThinkReservations: a Check Availability widget and room links

ThinkReservations offers a Check Availability widget you add to your pages, and it documents booking engine links that open with dates, guests, a coupon or a specific room already set. Guests finish booking on ThinkReservations’ secure booking page.

Who ThinkReservations is for

ThinkReservations says it’s built for hotels and boutique hotels, B&Bs and inns, hotel groups, and vacation rentals from one unit to a portfolio.

Ways to connect it to your website

  1. 01

    The Check Availability widget

A script you download, edit and host yourself, plus a small placeholder on each page. It comes as a check availability block, a room-specific block, a room block with a calendar, or a calendar alone. ThinkReservations doesn’t support installing it on your site, so your web person handles it.

  2. 02

Your own search with a link

ThinkReservations documents booking engine links with dates, adults, children, a coupon code or a room, so your own search bar or room pages can hand off with everything filled in.

Where guests actually book

Guests book at secure.thinkreservations.com followed by your property’s short name. ThinkReservations doesn’t document running it on your own domain. It customizes the booking engine to match your website.

ThinkReservations’s API and payments

API. Included on every plan. You create your own keys under Settings. It’s read-only. It can read reservations, availability, rates and rooms, but it can’t create or change reservations, so booking still happens on ThinkReservations’ page.

Payments. ThinkPayments, which runs on Stripe.

Channels it connects to

ThinkReservations lists connections to big travel sites, vacation rental sites and Google.

Booking.com also covers Priceline, Agoda and Kayak, and Expedia covers Hotels.com, Travelocity and Orbitz. Other sites like Glamping Hub get a one-way iCal feed. Hipcamp isn’t documented.

What I’d do

Use the documented links. A search bar on your homepage and a Book button on every room page that opens that room with dates filled in is fast, works on any site and is easy to keep running.

Either way, your own pages are what Google and AI tools read and recommend, so that's where the work pays off. I build direct booking websites around the booking software you already have, and I can move a site out of your booking software, redirecting every old page so your rankings carry over.

Questions

How do I link to a specific room in ThinkReservations?

Add room_id to your booking engine link. That room shows first in the results, with any dates and guest counts you include.

Can the ThinkReservations API take bookings?

No. ThinkReservations says its API is read-only. It can read reservations, availability and rates, but booking happens on its booking page.

Does ThinkReservations connect to Google?

Yes. ThinkReservations says subscribers are automatically eligible for Google’s free booking links at no cost, with clicks going to its booking engine.
