Mews: a booking engine that opens right on your page

Mews’s booking engine widget adds a script to your site and opens the booking engine as an overlay right on your page, so guests don’t leave. You can also link to the standalone booking engine, and Mews documents deep links for dates, guests, a specific room and voucher codes.

Who Mews is for

Mews says it’s built for all kinds of hospitality businesses, from boutique and independent hotels and hostels to serviced apartments and hotel groups.

Ways to connect it to your website

  1. 01

    The Booking Engine Widget

A script on your pages that opens the booking engine as an overlay on your own site. You can set the dates from your own search before it opens. Check that your Mews plan includes the widget.

  2. 02

    The standalone booking engine

A link to your booking engine on app.mews.com, with deep links to fill in the search. Mews doesn’t support putting it in your own iframe.

  3. 03

    The Booking Engine API

For a fully custom booking flow. Mews offers it on its Enterprise subscription.

Where guests actually book

With the widget, guests book in an overlay on your own page, and Mews sends them to a secure payment page to pay. The standalone booking engine lives on app.mews.com.

Mews’s API and payments

API. The Booking Engine API is for custom front ends on the Enterprise subscription. The Connector API is for Mews partners.

Payments. Mews’s built-in payments, with Apple Pay and Google Pay in the booking engine.

Channels it connects to

Mews lists connections to big travel sites and vacation rental sites.

Mews Channel Manager is powered by SiteMinder, and Mews says it reaches more than 400 channels. Its help center names Booking.com, Expedia and Airbnb’s hotel connection.

What I’d do

Use the widget so guests book over your own pages, and wire your own date search into it so the dates carry through. Link each room page to its room with mewsRoom, and use voucher deep links in your emails.

Either way, your own pages are what Google and AI tools read and recommend, so that's where the work pays off. I build direct booking websites around the booking software you already have, and I can move a site out of your booking software, redirecting every old page so your rankings carry over.

Questions

Does the Mews booking engine stay on my website?

With the widget, yes. It opens as an overlay on your own page.

Can I put the Mews booking engine in an iframe?

No. Mews says installing it inside your own iframe isn’t supported. Use the widget script instead.

Can I link to a specific room or voucher in Mews?

Yes. Add mewsRoom for a room and mewsVoucherCode for a voucher, along with mewsStart and mewsEnd for dates.
